Yes. A 6-pin PCIe connector is designed to deliver a lot more than 150W. Part 1-The dry erase board.
Просмотров 3087 месяцев назад
Still seeing people insist that a 6 2-pin (or 8-pin) can only deliver 150W because they're not reading the PCI-SIG incorrectly. Or rather, not reading the PCI-SIG spec because they're never made public. People: 150W has never been the limitation for any 6 2-pin PCIe cable. Part 2 is found here: ruclips.net/video/crRHqU8SAVE/видео.html

While playing with the Sunmoon on camera, I realized I was capturing the behavior of the PSU's ability to change the output voltage based on the load. So I used this as an opportunity to show how the sense wires monitor drops in voltage which allows the PSU to invade voltages at the source to compensate. Note how wide of range the voltages are on the 12V output. Keep this in mind when consideri...

    It's 11.99v on the 24p 12v rail. With the load on the 24p 12v wire. And 12.14v on the PSU Modular connector. So, what voltage will be read on the end connector on PCIe 6pin cable? 12.14v? since there's no high current flowing?

    • @jonnyGURU
      @jonnyGURU 2 месяца назад

      If there's no load, then yes... it should be very close to 12.14V since there will be little resistance. All outputs on the PSU end will be within .01V or so. The irony isn't lost on me that the connector with the lowest +12V load (the 24-pin) is the one with the sense wires and gets to dictate the voltage of all other outputs. If only Nvidia knew what sense wires were for and used them correctly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @@jonnyGURU Okay, thanks for the answer! Yy I know sense pin is just under the 24p. Lately Asus make additional 'purple' connector on their 2x6 PCIe connector to monitor VDroop on the PCIe rail. On their newest THOR III Titanium and Strix.

    Even if that 150w was true people would still be fine using a daisy chain.. Lets say 150w x2 + 75w from the PCIE slot itself thats still enough for a 375w card.

    @nunyabeeswax3012 7 месяцев назад

    This is to say that the extra 2 pins are just a really elaborate pinky promise by the PSU that it can deliver more power. Do these sense pins do anything that another conductor/ground pair would not? In other words, what stopped them from taking the EPS route by having 3 12V/ground pairs?

    • @jonnyGURU
      @jonnyGURU 7 месяцев назад

      "Pinky promise". I like that. But you bring up a good point. Intel never said the 4-pin ATX12V was only for 50W. In fact, it's commonly stated that it's good for up to 192W. Likewise, that the 8-pin is good for up to 336W. Not because this is what Intel stated in their document, but because it's not stated people did actual research.

  • @Mickulty
    @Mickulty 7 месяцев назад

    Completely agree with the general point, but I don't know that the slight simplification that the +2 is just sense pins has helped. My understanding is that one is a sense pin, one is ostensibly an active ground that is intended to sink current. That's supported by the slight change in the voltage even with the connector fully seated.

    • @jonnyGURU
      @jonnyGURU 7 месяцев назад

      Ostensibly, any additional ground is an improvement in power delivery, but that depends on how those pins are terminated inside the GPU. Where I misspoke was stating they were BOTH sense. Fact of the matter is, pin 6 (the center pin closest to the retention clip on the 6-pin portion) is "sense0". Pin 4 (the pin farthest from the cip on the +2) is sense 1. But I've never seen sense1 not grounded on any PSU. If sense0 is not present, the GPU can only expect up to 50W from the 6-pin. With sense0 grounded, it expects up to 75W is available. Like I said in the video, the connectors are a bit worn. When I did my test run, I used a different cable on a different port and the voltage didn't budget, but for the video I moved it and it's a little loose. I can shoot a short video showing the other cable and connector to prove the point. With the +2 attached, it physically stabilized the connector and prevent "wiggle" from causing the voltage to drop. For consistency sake, I used the same PSU for the past 5 years for tests like these, but I suppose that's not counterintuitive as it's causing more problems than having a newer reference.

The rubber handles fall out, broke one of the brake noodles, the rear brakes don't align correctly which causes noise, seat is uncomfortable, the steering handle will twist overtime and you can barely fit this in back seat of your car. Only good thing is the brakes. Its very responsive and ive haven't any problems upon the frame bending.
